Tia Wortham, bassoon, is a Florida native and former principal bassoonist in the US Navy Band of Washington, D.C. She is a member of the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra playing contrabassoon and bassoon, and she substitutes in the York Symphony in the same capacity. She recently played bassoon at the John F. Kennedy Center in one of its Classical and New Music Programs. She has played bassoon with the National Gallery of Art Orchestra and in the pit orchestra and recording studio of the Shakespeare Theatre Company. She teaches bassoon and oboe at Howard University and Suitland High School. She attends local and international double reed conferences. BMus, Florida State University; MMus, Catholic University.
